Media Training
The Sports Journalist is giving football clubs, footballers
and agents the opportunity to tap into the knowledge of Steve
Jackson.
Sustained media training courses are now available from The
Sports Journalist over the period of a season.
The course is designed for players to develop their interview
skills over four sessions, so they can feel comfortable in
front of the world's media and use it to their benefit.
| Football
clubs from all four English divisions have used The Sports
Journalist Media Training course. The clubs include: Tottenham,
Fulham, Crystal Palace, QPR, Brighton, Watford, Plymouth,
Rotherham, Swindon, MK Dons, Rushden, Blackpool, Oxford
and Bury. |
The opening
three sessions cover TV, radio and the press, with the final
session an overview session, including an interview to camera,
which is assessed.
Lesson 1:
- Introduction, including learning about any previous player
dealings with the media
- Why is media training important?
- Radio. Explanation of radio, including what they are after
and how they get it
- Radio Workshops: 30-Second and 15-Second Tests
- Discussion session.
Lesson 2:
- Review of previous lesson
- Print. Explanation of print, including what they are after
and how they get it
- Print Workshop. Different Answer Test
- Discussion session
- Print Workshop. Press Conference Test
- Discussion session.
Lesson 3:
- Review of previous two lessons
- TV. Explanation of TV, including what they are after and
how they get it
- TV Workshop. Leading Question Test
- Discussion session, including importance of appearance
- TV Workshop. Player TV Interview Test
- Discussion session.
Lesson 4:
- Review of previous three sessions
- Media Workshop. Turning Questions Test
- Discussion session
- Media Workshop. Journalist TV Interview Test.
