Born in Leicester in 1975, TSJ’s first step into the sports media industry came at the age of 21 when he started working as a volunteer at Leicester Sound Radio Station and Hospital Radio Fox.
TSJ was soon earning money on a freelance basis by covering football matches for a variety of other radio stations around the country, including IRN, Signal Radio and TFM.
Sky Sports television were quick to spot TSJ’s talent in 1999 and he started to cover football games for their live Soccer Special Shows.
In early 2000, TSJ became sports editor for an internet firm called eclipse-sports.com before taking on the role of midlands football correspondent for soccerage.com later that year.
A move into full time employment in the newspaper industry followed as TSJ gained more valuable experience as a sports writer for the Kent Messenger Group.
During this time, TSJ developed an expertise in golf as he wrote a full page spread for a selection of weekly local titles, before going on to write travel articles for Going for Golf Magazine and Today’s Golfer. TSJ was also Junior Editor at UK Golfer Magazine.
A return to freelance sports journalism followed for TSJ three years later with a move to Kettering, where he still lives. TSJ branched out into media training young footballers and also helps organise football reporters for other media outlets.
