Northamptonshire’s men produced a battling performance in the Eastern County Foursomes but couldn’t quite get all their players firing on all cylinders at the same time as they finished sixth out of nine teams at Seacroft GC.
Competing over two days, the side beat Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, and drew with Essex, Bedfordshire and Suffolk, but they were made to pay for narrow defeats to Leicestershire, BB&O and Lincolnshire.
With England internationals Ben Jones and Robin Williams unavailable for selection, the Northants experienced pairing of Fraser Carnihan and Lee Hitchcock led by example as they won seven of their eight games, and halved the other.
