Five gross birdies were on the winning scorecard of James Baldwin in Whittlebury Park’s February Stableford as he picked up shots on the third, ninth, 11th, 13th and 15th holes.

The eight-handicapper’s winning total of 42 points meant he finished four ahead of Craig Barnard, with Mark James and Paul Swain a further point off the pace.

Deborah Dixon led the scoring in the nine-hole ladies competition by two points from Tracey Heavey and Sue Colby (both 14).

Hellidon Lakes

Big points totals proved hard to come by at Hellidon Lakes in the February Stableford as the members struggled to discover their best form.

Martyn Bannister’s tally of 34 points proved sufficient to grab first place as he finished two ahead of top division duo Sam Wade and Gavin Aris, with high-handicapper Terry Washbrook on the same mark.

Staverton Park

Twenty three points was the winning score in three of the four Staverton Park Seniors nine-hole competitions in the middle of the month.

Peter Johnson and Chris Cotton both posted that mark on their way to two and three point wins respectively in the Blue Group Front Nine events, while Mick Worthington finished three clear in the Red Group Back Nine tournament.

In the other Red Group Back Nine competition, Robin Brown’s total of 20 points was enough to lift him one clear of Alan Bosher and Ray Rumble.
