Search begins for new NGL Secretary

Northamptonshire Golf Ltd are looking for a County Secretary for the first time this century after John Pearson announced just before Christmas of his intention to retire after 22 years in the role.

After overseeing the successful merger between the county men’s and ladies golf unions a few years ago, Pearson says the Northamptonshire governing body is in a strong position to grow, and pledges to help his successor in the coming weeks.

The Whittlebury Park Golf Club member said: “Having reached the age of 82 and been in post for 22 years I feel it is now time for me to retire and it is my intention to vacate my position at the AGM in March.

“I would like to record my sincere thanks to all colleagues at the County Golf Clubs and on the Board for the support I have received and I shall of course do everything possible to ensure a smooth transition to my successor.

“Having been closely associated with the organisation of Northamptonshire golf for more than a generation I do not intend simply to walk away and will be happy to offer my services on a voluntary basis in any capacity where I can be of use.”

The NGL are also searching for a new County Welfare Officer after Sally Bingham completed her tenure in the post. Applications for either role are open until January 27th. For more details visit www.northantsgolf.co.uk.
