Kingsthorpe

Geoff Wileman and Simon Kerr smashed a winning tally of 46 points in the Kingsthorpe Charity Shield Pairs competition as they finished two clear of the field.

Glen Harnett and Tosh Kerr were runners-up on countback from Frank Cassidy and Reg Cullen, who kept their good form going into the Sid Garrett Greensomes competition the following weekend as they triumphed with a score of net 60.

Hellidon Lakes

Five points was the margin of victory in the Hellidon Lakes October Stableford as Ted Craig (42) grabbed the plaudits ahead of Gavin Aris, Roy Trim and Darren Seaton.

Countback was required in the second round of the Tigers Winter Merit League a few days earlier as Joe Kingston (39 points) gained the verdict from Peter Bosworth.

Staverton Park

Malcolm Jones coped best in the difficult scoring conditions to win the Men’s October Stableford with a round of 37 points at Staverton Park. Bill Marks and Bob Sheeky were next on 36 apiece.

Teresa Cruickshank, who led the ladies scoring alongside Sharon Jones (both 33), maintained her good form into the third week of the Front Nine Winter Series as she bagged 19 points to triumph by one from Debbie Pendlebury.

Daventry

Terence Kempe’s score of 40 points was enough to claim top spot in the opening Winter Stableford at Daventry as he finished two ahead of runner-up Casey Cooper, with Garry Lenton in third on 37.

In the Pam’s Pot competition a couple of days later, Sara Harper claimed the plaudits on countback from Jacquie Bailey with 32 points.

Whittlebury Park

Forty seven points was the best total in the first round of the Whittlebury Park Men’s Winter Pairs League as Kev Thompson and Gez Jackson took the Bruton Plate event honours from Nick Whitehead and Joe Bird on countback.

Steve Bowers was successful in the October Men’s Nine-hole Stableford as his tally of 21 points lifted him one clear of Shaun Parker and Paul Wikeley. The ladies prize went to Danielle Edwards (16) on countback from Deborah Dixon.
