Australian Spoons Final

Whittlebury Park’s Tracey Mann and Carole Kane lifted the Australian Spoons title after the pair produced a strong finish in the national final on the Bracken course at Woodhall Spa GC.
The duo started the final slowly with just three points from their first three holes and a moderate score of 13 at the half way stage, but picked up points on eight of the remaining nine holes, including eight from the last three to race to glory.
Mann and Kane finished three ahead of closest challengers Sarah Ross and Pam Wevill (Launceston) who failed to pick up a point from their last two holes.
The Northants pair, who won the regional final by four with 37 points after missing out by just a single point last year, said: “After a poor front nine we were determined to come back. We dug in and stayed focused.”
Northamptonshire’s Ben Jones, meanwhile, has missed out on selection to compete in the Walker Cup as the England international golfer has been named as a reserve for the match against USA on September 7th-8th.
