European Golf Team Championships

Meghan MacLaren says it was ‘very special’ to come away with a silver and bronze medal after representing Great Britain 3 in the inaugural European Golf Team Championships at Gleneagles GC.
Competing alongside Michele Thomson in the ladies event, the Wellingborough pro won two and halved one of her three group games to progress through to the last four.
Although the pair lost to France in the semi-finals, they clinched third place after a 3&1 victory in cold weather conditions over the Great Britain 1 team of Laura Davies and recently-crowned British Open champion Georgia Hall.
In a separate mixed competition on Saturday, MacLaren was also successful in the mixed team event as she combined with Conor Syme, Liam Johnston and Thomson to grab second spot behind champions Iceland.
MacLaren said: “We could have won gold this week but we put that disappointment behind us and to come away with two medals is very special.”
