2019 MENA Tour debuts for county pros

County professionals Gary Boyd and Kyson Lloyd had mixed fortunes on their debuts on the 2019 MENA Tour as they competed in the first event on the Journey to Jordan at Ayla GC in Jordan.
Boyd carded six birdies in a four-under-par opening round of 68, bagged two late birdies in a score of 73 on day two, before shooting another 73 to finish in 32nd place.
By contrast, Wellingborough’s Lloyd never recovered from a six-over-par score of 78 on day one, as he missed the cut with a 36-hole total of 153.
Both players booked their place in the 10-event series in the Middle East after coming the Stage B qualifying tournament on the same course earlier this month.
Cherwell Edge’s Boyd, who played on the main European Tour a few years ago, finished eighth as he posted five birdies in an opening 70, add a couple of birdies on short holes in a second round 71, before dropping just a single stroke in a final day 70.
Lloyd did well to recover from two double bogeys at the end of an opening round of 73, as he smashed five birdies in a seven-hole stretch in a 71 on day two, before a consistent round of 72 secured 16th place.
With four more MENA Tour events taking place during February and March, and then five further competitions in the Middle East from September, both men will be aiming to book a Grand Final spot in late November.
