Avondale Amateur Medal

County amateur Ben Jones was unable to build on reaching the semi-finals of the recent New South Wales Amateur Championships last week as he was forced to pull out of the Avondale Amateur Medal early in his first round.
In a tournament won by Wellingborough professional Ryan Evans during his last year as an amateur in 2014, Jones withdrew after just six holes.
Fellow Northamptonshire golfer Callum Farr made the cut with scores of 70 and 76, carded six birdies in a brilliant three-under-par 68 in the third round, before finishing with a 77. Farr’s older Michael missed the cut on 152.
