Golf news from Northern Clubs
Overstone Park
Mark White and Nick Fowkes will represent Overstone Park in the Men’s Daily Mail Foursomes KO tournament next year after winning the club qualifier by four points from Ryan Genner and Lee Hitchcock (38).
Leomelia Davis and Sue Tickle led the scoring in the Ladies qualifier by three from Katie Watkins and Suzanne Silvester (32).
Priors Hall
Anthony Cornwell recorded back-to-back countback wins in the opening two rounds of the Seniors Winter Eclectic at Priors Hall after bagging 27 points over 11 holes.
John McConnell was runner-up in the first event, while Gerry Cummins was second in a week later. Cummins also missed out on countback in the first week of the Winter League as Tam Ferns took the honours with 27.
Rushden
David Johnstone was successful in Rushden’s November Stableford as he finished a single point ahead of Owen Roberts and Alfie Masser (both 34).
Eli Farrington (20) led the way in the Ladies Nine-hole Stableford by one point from Yvonne Wilcox.
Kettering
Forty one points was the best score in the Ladies Patsomes Competition at Kettering as Viv Lewis and Andrea Whitlam took the plaudits by two from Cathy Kemp and her partner.
Wellingborough
High-handicapper Linda Simpson smashed an impressive tally of 29 points over 12 holes in the Wellingborough Ladies November Stableford. Pat Dawson (28) secured the runners-up prize by one from Liz Palmer.
