Kingsthorpe
Four points was the margin of success in the fifth round of the Kingsthorpe Winter League as Mark O’Neill and Stuart Phelan (61) took the plaudits from Anton Clarke and Kevin Purkis.
O’Neill and Phelan maintained their good form into the Sunday Turkey Trott a few days later as they bagged 42 points to finish third.
Mark Lineham and Andy Trott carded the same score but it didn’t threaten to claim the top prize as Paul Tupai and Mark Spence smashed an impressive total of 48 points.
Whittlebury Park
Chris Thompson lifted the Willis Christmas Cup after winning the latest 9 O’Clock Club Competition by four points from Paul Jackson (33).
Two other Whittlebury Park members with the same surnames claimed top spot in the fourth Bruton Plate Men’s Winter League Competition as Kev Thompson and Gez Jackson combined successfully.
The duo bagged 49 points to finish one ahead of Philip Bearman and David Wood, with James Beare and Simon Hirst (46) third on countback from Barry Smart and David Sloanes.
Staverton Park
Mike Grey posted 22 points over Staverton Park’s inward stretch to win the latest Seniors Winter Series nine-hole competition by three from Andrew Witcomb and Martin Lane.
Alan Reeves was successful in the front nine competition by one from John O’Connor and Charles Pask (both 18).
Hellidon Lakes
Len Edwards compiled the best round in the December Medal at Hellidon Lakes as a net 71 pushed him a single stroke ahead of fellow higher-handicapper Terry Washbrook.
Scoring proved even more difficult in the December Stableford as Graham Newport (31 points) grabbed first place by one from Max Welsh.
