Division 1
Staverton Park claimed the notable scalp of Northants County as they beat the reigning champions 5-3 at home, thanks to a strong performance from the tail.
County, who beat Wellingborough 7-1 in the opening home fixture of the season, looked on course for another win as Harry Larkins, Josh Pritchett and Brian O’Connell bagged three of the first four points.
Michael Franklin led Staverton’s revival with a 5&4 success, Leigh Foster levelled the match score on the 17th hole, before Giorgio Forgione and Andrew Swain secured the home victory as they both triumphed down the last.
Wellingborough edged a tight home contest with Northampton by a single point as five of the eight games went the distance.
Although Adam Sherlock recorded a 4&2 victory, Wellingborough’s other wins all came on the 18th hole as Roger Butler, Mark Davis and Jon Harris came good, while Tim Veal bagged a vital half.
Division 2
The battle of the two unbeaten sides in the second tier went the way of Overstone Park as they strolled to a 6-2 victory at Collingtree Park.
All the damage was done early on as Jack Binch, Jamie Newton and Andrew MacDonald (all 3&2) bagged the first three points, before Lawrence Ryan, Richard Dalton and James Barker wrapped up the win in the next three games.
