Priors Hall

A single point was the margin of success in the eighth week of the Priors Hall Winter League as Mark Collins grabbed the honours from in-form Anthony Lamond with an 11-hole tally of 27 points.

Malcolm Thompson came out on top in the second Seniors Winter Eclectic of the year as his score of 25 points was two more than runner-up Stuart Clark could manage.

Overstone Park

Gross birdies on the 14th and 16th holes at Overstone Park helped Stephen Byrom win the January Yellow Tee Stableford by one point.

The 17-handicapper carded 40 points to squeeze in front of Dave Barry, with Gordon Roan a further two adrift in third position.

Lorna Winfield and Carol Cornforth compiled the joint-best score of 22 points over 12 holes at Wellingborough in the Ladies January Stableford.

Winfield finished two ahead of Gill Snelson in the first division, while Cornforth edged one clear of Judith Chapman in the second section. Anita Farmer (17) was the leading high-handicapper.

Christine Roughton lifted the Ladies New Year Cup at Rushden after posting 16 points over nine holes. Pam Digby (15) finished second by three from Mirian O’Reilly.
