Kathryn makes history as new County President
Northamptonshire Golf Ltd has moved into a period of history after the county golf organising body confirmed the appointment of a lady as President for the first time as Kathryn Stronach took on the role towards the end of the month.
Although the 2020 County AGM was postponed last week due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the Clubs still agreed to the Kettering member’s selection as she replaced Ken Hignett for the next two years.
Stronach said: “It’s an honour to be NGL President, even if the circumstances are very serious. The most important thing at the moment is that everyone stays safe and that we support our fellow community around us with kindness, support and help.
“In view of the most recent Government information/advice on COVID-19 it was decided to postpone indefinitely our Annual General Meeting.
“Further, with regret, it was decided that all NGL organised events including competitions, matches and coaching will be suspended with immediate effect until further notice.
“The NGL will investigate what options we have and how we can run the competitions for the 2020 season once we have a clearer picture during these difficult times. We will keep this under continuous review.
“We wish all our members good health in these most difficult of times and sincerely hope that life – and golf – will return to normality in the not too distant future.”
